MP urges greater financial inclusion and creative support to boost farmers’ livelihoods.

The Member of Parliament for Kpando, Sebastian Deh, has called for stronger financial inclusion and innovative support to improve the livelihoods of smallholder farmers in Ghana.

Speaking on the floor of the House, he underscored that smallholder farmers are the backbone of Ghana’s agricultural sector, playing a key role in ensuring food security and driving economic growth.

He pointed out that despite their importance, many farmers still struggle with limited access to affordable credit, weak market connections, and the impacts of climate change.

He highlighted how Opportunity International Savings and Loans (OISL) supports rural farmers through services like seasonal loans, financial literacy programs, and mobile banking solutions.

The Kpando MP emphasized that empowering smallholder farmers is crucial for boosting rural economies, reducing poverty, and securing Ghana’s food future.
