Afenyo-Markin: NPP Set to Become Majority if Polls Are Held Today

Minority Leader, Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin, is confident the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) will regain political dominance in the 2028 general elections. Politics

Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin has criticised the government for what he describes as its failure to fulfil key campaign promises, insisting that Ghanaians will vote the current administration out in the next general elections.

He pointed to the proposed 24-hour economy policy as one of the major pledges that has not been realised, arguing that it will be a decisive issue for voters. He further cited the government’s inability to increase cocoa producer prices and the recent rise in utility tariffs as clear signs of underperformance, which he believes will ultimately work in favour of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Afenyo-Markin also urged members of TESCON to dismiss claims that the NPP marginalises certain ethnic groups, stressing that the party is inclusive and committed to representing all Ghanaians regardless of their background.

Adding to the message, Akuapem North MP Samuel Awuku reaffirmed the party’s determination ahead of the next elections, stating that the NPP will fiercely contest every parliamentary seat currently held by the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

He emphasised that the party plans to intensify its engagement, especially on campuses, declaring that no NDC seat will be considered out of reach as they prepare for the 2028 elections.
