Vice President Dr Mahumudu Bawumia has announced plans to establish an individualized credit scoring system.
He mentioned that this new initiative will empower employees by providing them with the opportunity to make major purchases, such as homes and vehicles, through access to credit at reduced interest rates.
“We look forward to starting individualised credit scoring in Ghana this year and this will make it easier for Ghanaians to access credit at lower interest rates,” the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) said.
However, popular Kumawood actor Kwaku Manu believes individuals should secure employment before credit scoring.
Speaking on UTV’s United Showbiz programme, the actor said: “Jobs are more important than credit cards. If you don’t have work to do, how can you get a credit card? Before a bank gives you a credit card it will make sure you have some money in your account first and how are you going to get that money if you’re not working…? he questioned.
